The Main Causes Of HairLoss

1:43 PM

The causes of hair loss are few and many all at the same time, but you must first understand how hair loss is possible. Many television and radio commercials will advertise causes of hair loss being poor care taken of the hair or bad hair care products being used. However, the causes of hair loss on a large scale are easy to find and understand.

Long Illness- One of the more common causes of hair loss is a long bout with a serious illness or a very stressful period of family strife. Stress can cause many problems with your body with one being the excessive loss of hair.

Hormonal Imbalance- Another cause of hair loss can be the hormonal imbalance brought on by something like a thyroid disease. Correcting a hormonal imbalance like the excess of androgens or estrogens could cause hair loss.

Pregnancy- Many women begin to lose hair a few months after pregnancy due to the loss of balance in their hormones. Another cause of hair loss, this is usually cured on its own several months after the hormones return to normal.

Infections- Certain types of fungal infections or degenerative diseases can cause hair loss. To overcome the fungal infections that cause hair loss the patient needs to purchase an anti-fungal shampoo or lotion.

Genetic- The biggest cause of hair loss is the genes being passed on from generation to generation. Though there are a number of wives tales, from the mother?s father and that it skips a generation, they are most commonly untrue. The only known genetic cause of hair loss has nothing to do with what side of family or generation you are a part of, it is simply the luck of the draw.

There are a number of causes for hair loss, but the majority are undeniably untrue. Doctors, scientists, and any number of normal Joe?s have been attempting to understand baldness for hundreds of years, understand that when the true cause of hair loss is found you will hear about it!

Wheel Chairs with Attitude

11:49 PM

If you?re in the market for wheel chairs, and really, why else would you be here, then I hope you have considered the many options that are available in motorized scooters and power chairs. There are many style options available to the average consumer today that haven?t been traditionally available in the past.

In addition to the many styles and mobility options that are available, there are many payment plans that are available to enable the average consumer in getting the chair that will best suit their lifestyle needs as well as their mobility desires. The old wheel chairs of yester year don?t offer the maneuverability that the modern scooters and power chairs offer, not to mention they aren?t nearly as practical as they can?t really handle that many terrain options.

If you have a younger child or teen that needs a wheel chair or mobility device of some sort, you may find that a power chair of mobility scooter is a great option as far as wheel chairs go. These allow your child to have a certain ?coolness? factor that wheel chair bound children haven?t been able to have in the past. The sad truth is that children look at wheel chairs and see a handicapped person; they look at a mobility scooter and see someone that has a pretty cool ride.

For the elderly, these electric wheel chairs offer maneuverability and freedom from the isolation that attempting to move from place to place with a manually powered wheel chair simply does not accommodate. Isolation is one of the worst pitfalls of age, these chairs allow those who would have been home bound by their limitations to get out into the world and congregate with others. This freedom more than anything is well worth the price tag these specialized wheel chairs command.

I hope that if a wheel chair is one of your needs, you will strongly consider the freedom that a motorized wheel chair or power chair offers.

Finding Hair Loss Treatments That Fit Within Your Budget

7:43 PM

Hair loss treatments can be very expensive and although most people want to try to regain their full head of hair they cannot afford them. There are surgical measures for hair loss treatments that could cost as much as $9000 and this cost is not covered by any health insurance plan.

This is because the doctors that perform this treatment are classed as plastic surgeons and the procedures are not necessary for a healthy life. The important thing when considering any type of hairloss treatments is to visit your doctor to make sure that there is no underlying medical cause.

There are five main types of hair loss treatments. These include treatments for thinning hair as well as baldness treatments. You should carefully evaluate each one to determine the pros and cons of each and to see whether or not it suits your lifestyle and budget. These treatments are:

?DHT inhibitors
?Products that stimulate hair growth
?SOD ? super oxide dismutase
?Anti-inflammatory medications
?Antiandrogens

Baldness treatments such as DHT inhibitors and other products used to help you regrow your hair are by prescription from the doctor only. However, you can save money when you purchase these hair loss treatments because they are available from online pharmacies.

This does not mean that because they are online they are readily available. You still need to send in a copy of the prescription that you can scan and send as an attachment. For security measures when you place an order online for any of these hair loss treatments, the pharmacy you choose will contact the doctor to verify the prescription. When that is done, the hairloss treatment will be shipped to your address. Although it may take a little longer than handing in the prescription at the local pharmacy, you will get the treatments you need cheaper. No matter what kind of treatment the doctor prescribes, you will be able to get what you need at an online pharmacy.

Just because you?re losing your hair and need hair loss treatments, doesn?t mean that you have to lose all your money in the process.

Hair loss treatments can be expensive, so shop wisely.

Skin Type: Hair Removal And Your Skin Type

4:01 PM

When it comes to some types of hair removal procedures, your skin type can help to determine the likelihood that the process will work on you specifically.

In 1975 a US dermatologist named Thomas B. Fitzpatrick devised a system to classify skin types based on a person's physical attributes and their response to sun exposure.

The result is a classification of 6 different skin types:

Type I: Very fair skin that always burns and never tans.

Type II: Fair skin that always burns and sometimes tans.

Type III: Medium skin that sometimes burns and always tans.

Type IV: Olive/light brown skin that rarely burns and always tans.

Type V: Brown skin that never burns and always tans.

Type VI: Dark brown or black skin that never burns and always tans.

The 6 Fitzpatrick skin types range from Type 1 (very fair skin) to Type 6 (very dark skin).

Your skin type is determined by completing a questionnaire that asks about the color of your eyes, the natural color of your hair, the color of your skin, propensity to tan/burn and other questions related to how your skin responds to the sun.

When it comes to hair removal, the specific area to be treated is important since some body parts (ie. face) often get more regular exposure to the sun than other body parts (ie. back) and therefore might be a slightly different shade.

Skin type is a very important determining factor for the success (or lack thereof) of laser and pulsed light hair removal treatment.

When I first received my pulsed light hair removal treatment, one of the first thing the practitioner did was to have me answer the skin type questionnaire to determine my skin type.

She then inputted my skin type into the machine's computer since its settings are customizable based on the skin type of each patient.

Temporary and permanent hair removal technology is evolving constantly and is relevant to both men and women who want to remove unwanted hair.

Hair Color Secrets Which Color Is Right For You?

7:58 PM

Hair color correction is a big money maker in salons nationwide. The reason: over-the-counter hair coloring products have given consumers the impression that hair color is easy and extremely affordable. One look at a professionally-colored model on a commercial or glossy magazine page, and many people clamor to the closest drug store to purchase a $5 box of color with the hopes of receiving a $50 salon look.

The results are often disastrous, and it can take hundreds of dollars to correct a hair color problem that could have been prevented with just a tiny bit of knowledge and planning.

The most common problem seen with hair coloring at home and in salons is choosing a hair color that is too light for the natural shade of hair. Realistically, color can only lighten hair beautifully by a few shades. If you go any lighter than a few shades, you need to choose a high-lift product such as bleach or a professional highlighting system. Failure to do this often results in hair color that is much too brassy or even orange.

Word to the wise: high-lift hair coloring should only be performed by professionals. The controlled chemicals used in the process, if used incorrectly, can result in irreparable damage and/or chemical burns on the scalp and skin.

Another hair color mistake that is seen quite often is choosing a color that is too dark. Extremely dark hair color can be the most challenging to correct because dark color can actually stain the cortex (inner layer) of the hair, making it almost impossible to lighten. Again, avoid choosing hair colors that are more than a few shades darker than your own to prevent a costly cortex stain.

When it comes to choosing the right shade of hair color to use, pick tones and shades that flatter your skin tone. Choose warm shade of hair color (reds and warm browns) if you look best in warm-colored clothing such as reds, pinks and oranges. Choose a cool shade (beige, pale blonde highlights and neutral colors) if you look best in blues and greens.

As you can see, just a little bid of planning and knowledge can save you from costly hair coloring disasters. And by making an informed decision before you purchase hair color, you will not only save money, you will also save your hair from needless damage.

Hair color is a chemical, and every time you chemically process your hair, you damage it to some extent. The damage can be minimal, as is usually the case with high-end professional hair coloring systems, or can be extreme. And each time you use hair color to correct a problem, you are damaging your hair even more.

Here are just a few tell-tale signs that your hair has been over processed with hair color and other chemicals.

The hair is limp and dull, and no amount of styling can bring back its luster and bounce. The hair color has faded dramatically, and you are left with brassy and banded hair color. (Banded hair color is evident by the sudden change of hair color along the hair shaft. For example: the hair may be dark until about 2 from the scalp where it turns a brassy orange.) The hair is extremely dry and brittle. When it is wet, it is almost impossible to comb it without causing breakage.

You can avoid damage to your hair caused by hair coloring by taking the same precautions recommended for choosing the right hair color. Choosing the right hair color reduces the amount of color applications, therefore, reducing the chances of your hair becoming over processed.

Electrolysis: Not a OneStop Shop

7:52 PM

Hair removal can be confusing sometimes in terms of what method or product to use. To avoid this, one should start with the basics. Like everything else, one should begin with the definition.

Hair - No matter how unwanted it is, you need to understand what hair is because this is what you are removing. Where the hair grows is known as the hair follicle. The word is derived from the Latin 'follis', for bag. This is a sac where a hair shaft grows from and through the open sebaceous (oil) glands.

Each hair follicle normally undergoes a five-year cycle of growth and rest periods. There are about 90% of the follicles growing hair at any one time, growth which averages at about six inches (15 cm) of growth per year. Because of this cycle, whenever someone says that their product removes hair at one time, it doesn't mean that it removes all hair types. Actually, it's impossible to have every hair type removed from an area permanently and in one treatment only. The amounts of each type of hair and growth rate differ from one person to another. Anywhere from 20% to 85% of hairs are in the anagen phase, where hair is actively growing, depending on the surface area and body part where the hair is removed. A lot of hair-removal techniques have shown to be successful on fast-growing anagen hair although this indicates that a single treatment from any procedure is not enough to remove all the hairs of that area.

Potential Follicles are the types of follicles that do not produce hair, but still have the ability to do so. These follicles could be stimulated to produce hair by changes in hormones during puberty, pregnancy, aging, etc., or by chemical exposure or medical conditions. This is the reason why, even if hair is permanently removed, some new hairs may still grow.

Permanent Methods - If you are looking for permanent ways to get rid of hair, you have a few flawed options. A number of ways have been developed to regulate hair growth with the use of chemicals, various types of energy, or a combination. Permanent hair removal ultimately means permanently destroying these areas while sparing the surrounding tissue. This is a tricky test. Choose wisely.

Electrolysis - Electrolysis is a method of removing unwanted hair permanently. In this procedure, a metal probe that is as thin as a hair is slid into the unwanted hair follicle. This is properly done if the probe doesn't puncture the skin when inserted. Upon insertion, an electric current runs from the probe to the follicle and causes localized and contained damage to the area. This results in the inability of the follicle to produce hair. Electrolysis has the best results in terms of longevity of the effects. This method also boasts of 125 years of safety and effectiveness that has been clinically proven. However, this can be very expensive, painful and tiresome. Also, with areas of large amounts of hair, this method may require repeated sessions. If electrolysis is done incorrectly, this may result in partial to full hair re-growth, temporary or lasting skin damage and infection. Electrolysis must be done by licensed and competent practitioners.

Prevent Hair Fall and Dandruff the Natural Way

1:07 PM

Hair loss and dandruff are one of the most irritating disorders that can even make a person depressed at times.

There is a huge market for hair disorders such as hair fall, dandruff, alopecia etc. Companies are making a quick buck and exploiting in the name of herbal remedies. Many of these remedies are not purely herbal and may contain some herb as a component with inorganic and harmful chemicals as the prime component. Such products give only temporary relief, for example, anti-dandruff shampoos widely marketed, give relief only for a day or even lesser period.Ofcourse, there are genuine products in the market and the companies need not be pointed out for it is not their fault alone, but also of consumers who wants a quick remedy! Application of such temporary remedies and easily accessible products is not the right solution for the hair disorders, the solution lies in the age old systems of traditional medicine.

Such traditional medicine with modern science and technology can throw some effective long term and easy to use remedies. While I don?t remember at this point of time any such ready to use natural remedy manufactured by companies, I am suggesting some time tested age old traditional or natural methods for containing hair fall and dandruff. Though some of the methods are cumbersome or the ingredients not readily accessible, this is the only way and natural way for preventing as well as curing the irritating disorders.

The ripened fruits of Soap nut, botanically called Sapindus emarginatus, are soaked in hot water for 10-15 minutes and then crushed with hand in the same water to get the extract. The extract can be daily used beneficially with no side effects as a shampoo. It gives rich lather and can be compared in lathering property to synthetic lathering agents generally found in manufactured shampoos.

Another time tested natural shampoo, is the thoroughly ground powder of Blackgram, which should be made into a viscid paste with which the hair is washed and the scalp massaged. This is a good soap for the body also. For starters, the paste when applied, may be rough as compared to the soap, but a beautiful soap with all goodness.

Both the above, Soap nut juice and Black Gram powder are natural shampoos, with no loss of natural oil from the body and in addition are anti dandruff.

Prior to head bath the following applications are useful

Prior to shampooing or head bath, the scalp is thoroughly massaged with a combination made of crushed fenugreek seeds and sour curd. Leave for 15-20 minutes and wash with the shampoos suggested above.

People who do not like to apply oil in day times may apply oil like pure coconut oil before going to bed and then shampoo the natural way in the morning. This restores the lost oil from the scalp.

Another remedy widely used in India and known as a c-vitamin rich fruit all over the world, Powder of Indian Gooseberry is an excellent rejuvenator for the hair. It brings lustier, prevents or contains dandruff and helps strengthen the roots.

There are several such remedies, but access to the raw materials or genuine products is a problem in addition to the time consuming preparations. At least choose a product that has less of synthetic components and more of naturals. Never go for a shampoo full of chemicals, just because it gives tons of lather!

Drug Testing In A Nutshell

7:13 PM

For people who want to have a loved one undergo drug testing or for anyone who just wants to (or has to) go through it, here are some highly important points to take note of. First of all, however, it really is high time for people all across the United States, even the entire world, to put greater importance on the life threatening risks involved when it comes to drugs and substance abuse.

1. Testing: What Works?

As compared to having a drug testing by taking samples of the patient?s blood, it is highly recommended that the medical technician use the patient?s urine. The urine has been proven to be more reliable when it comes to the detection of any drug abuse. Unfortunately, it also a more expensive kind of drug testing. As an added benefit, it is also gives the clearest results; it is very easy for medical technicians to see whether or not a person has taken drugs into one?s system.

One downside of drug testing using urine samples is that it is impossible to accurately say when the patient took the drug. Blood testing is more accurate and this associated information can be derived from a blood sample.

2. Future Techniques: Hair Sampling

Another drug testing technique is through hair testing which is not recommended because a lot of laboratories are finding some difficulty with regards to the reliability of the results especially, as most often than not, drug testing through the hair poses positive results for the patient. A lot of people don?t buy into this kind of drug testing since with the simple act of washing one?s hair as well as being subjected to other hair contaminants an incorrect reading is possible.

3. Problems With Drug Testing:

- Confirming the reliability of the testing
- Questionable accuracy of hair testing results
- Urine drug testing accuracy highly dependent on how the procedure has been carried out by the medical technician

Unfortunately, most especially during this time wherein more and more people are getting lured into doing drugs as well as other substance abuse, a lot of the clinics that are conducting drug testing all over the United States are not really capable of providing the reliable results that people need due to the rampant mishandling and as well as the improper ways that some clinics conduct their drug testings. Therefore, the top three most reliable aspects that people should need to look for in a drug test for it be considered as reliable: strict collection procedures, proper testing procedures and random notification.

Chair Yoga Case Study Reduced Anxiety and Blood Pressure

6:07 PM

After teaching chair yoga for several years Liz Franklin can testify that it appropriate for almost anyone, even if they are feeling the effects of aging or have physical limitations. It is not for hard-bodied 20-somethings that can twist themselves into poses that look impossible ? the only prerequisite is that you can sit in a chair, including a wheelchair.

What better way to illustrate how chair yoga has benefited those unable to attend a traditional yoga class than to tell it in their own words?

Hi! I?m Penny Hoober. I?m proudly 64 years old, a mother and a grandmother. I?ve been working part-time at my church for 20 years. I?ve been married to a wonderful man for 38 years. I have been doing chair yoga since June of 2005.

I had a stroke and my neurologist suggested practicing yoga. I called three yoga studios, and when they heard I was ?post stroke? they did not want me to attend classes there. My daughter kept researching and found Liz? chair yoga class. She called Liz and after a nice conversation, I went to my first class. I was looking for more balance in my life and help with severe anxiety and other health issues, including high blood pressure.

At first I was somewhat skeptical, but I kept coming to class and after 6 weeks I began to notice subtle shifts and benefits. Now if I am unable to attend class I really miss it. My anxiety kicks in and my depression worsens. The classes have become a social time for me and I have made some wonderful new friends. My Monday class is a great way to start my week and keeps me going for the rest of my week. All the other students are non-judgmental and it is wonderful knowing that they are all dealing with their own health issues.

I have made incredible strides in lowering my blood pressure. I went from readings of 190/120 to 115/62. My doctor was shocked and amazed. I have found ways to incorporate brief yoga breaks into my life. I do little ?bites? of yoga all day long. Just dropping my tongue to the bottom of my mouth makes such a big difference in how I feel, both physically and mentally. I don?t make time to do an entire hour of yoga on my own, but the small things Liz suggests that we do during the day have made a big difference in my life.

I really enjoy the way Liz keeps the classes interesting by mixing things up. The classes are not monotonous and she is very sensitive to the needs and mood of her students. This program really does help your mind and body. It brings balance to your life but you do have to work at it.

Yoga has now become a part of my daily life and I find myself incorporating more and more each month. The release of tension makes such a big difference in my life. If you are thinking about joining a class or purchasing the videos, give it a try ? not just once but several times ? and you will be hooked on chair yoga!

Mark Franklin enjoys telling people about Liz Franklin's Yoga In Chairs(r) because he knows it is helping people live healthier, happier, and longer lives. If you want to find out about her special style of chair yoga, visit http://www.yogainchairs.com

5 Steps to Get Rid of Dandruff

1:03 PM

What is dandruff anyway?

Dandruff is actually a condition whereby the scalp surface has a rapid increase in cells. These cells quickly replace older cells, so the oldest topmost layer of cells becomes dead and is shed off as flakes of skin.

Dandruff is seasonal: the worst season is in winter and the least severe season is in summer.

There are a few common symptoms of dandruff, mainly that of scaling (shedding of small white flakes of skin) and occasionally itching.

But more importantly, how can you cure dandruff?

Because it is a natural body process, dandruff cannot be cured, but it can be controlled.

Here are 5 important things you should do to control your dandruff problem.

1. Use a medicated shampoo. The medicated shampoo will reduce the speed of the growth of the cells on the scalp, thus lessening the cell replacement and decreasing the amount of dandruff. The shampoo should also have an antiseptic that will help prevent infection of your scalp so as to reduce itchiness.

2. Shampoo more often, up to three times a week using medicated shampoo until the situation is controlled. Then, continue use of the medicated shampoo once every week.

3. Stop using gels, hairsprays and hair-coloring products. If you must use them, do not use them excessively and learn the proper use of such products.

4. Don?t scratch the scalp when it is itchy. This will cause the problem to worsen.

5. If the problem is severe, see your doctor for anti-inflammatory cream for your scalp or anti-dandruff tablets to ingest.

Hair Loss ? Getting to the Roots

1:28 PM

Everyday we shed hair regardless of age or how healthy our hair is, just the same as we shed skin. Most of us fortunately never have any problems with noticeable hair loss, but then there are an ever increasing amount of us that do experience the almost ?nightmare? of losing our hair at all different ages. Once hair has been lost it is normally replaced in a reasonable amount of time, but it is only when the hair is not replaced for whatever reason that may be, that the loss of hair starts to become noticeable.

There are many myths of hair loss as usual, just as there are with any medical condition, but there are numerous known contributors to hair loss, that are present in most of our lives. Excessive bleaching and colouring of your hair and the constant use of products that are full of chemicals can be detrimental for your hair?s condition. The process of aging can have the effect of hair loss even if you have lived a stress free healthy life, and can cause you to search for hair loss treatment.

Most drugs whether they have been prescribed by doctors or taken for recreational purposes can not only have an effect on practically all of your bodily functions, and lot term effect on your body mentally and physically, but can also contribute to the loss of hair at all stages of life. Any type of skin infection or hormonal imbalance with women can influence the loss of hair, and so can any illness that has taken a hard toll on your body.

One of the most common thoughts of hair loss is down to stress, and working a lot of hours and spending most of your working week stressed up to your eyeballs, and not been able to distress before you commence with another stressful day at work seems to contribute to a lot of hair loss across the nation. A simply remedy to this is work less hours, or do not let your work stress you up as much. This is quite often easy to say, and very difficult to put into practice.

Balancing the Oils in Your Hair How to Treat Dry Hair and Oily Hair

8:01 PM

Do you ever stand in the shampoo aisle at the grocery store, dreaming of the day when you will be able to buy shampoo for ?normal? hair? Well, if you need help dealing with either oily hair or dry hair, here are some very useful tips and suggestions:

How to deal with oily hair:

?Use a mild shampoo ? if you wash your hair every day, it is better to choose a mild shampoo over one designed specifically for oily hair because the latter shampoo might be too harsh. Sure, it might get rid of the oiliness of your hair, but it could damage it in the process!

?If you use a certain shampoo for a week or two and you do not notice any change (or you notice a change for the worse), try out a new shampoo. It might take a bit of trial and error before you find a shampoo that works well for you.

?While shampooing, be gentle. Massaging your scalp fiercely will create more oils.

?Keep your hair lathered up for up to five minutes before you your rinse.

?Shampoo again if your hair was particularly oily.

?If you must use a conditioner, choose a very light conditioner or one that is specifically made to treat oily hair.

?Apply the conditioner only to the ends of your hair.

?Be sure to fully rinse the conditioner out.

?Comb your hair once or twice throughout the day to help redistribute the oils ? comb it only briefly, though, and try to avoid combing directly on the scalp. This could cause you to distribute oils that might have just stayed on your scalp.

?For a quick fix, spritz some water onto your hair and then blow-dry it.

?Some people (especially those with lighter hair) find that sprinkling a little baby powder in their hair and ten brushing it out can help eliminate the oily appearance.

How to treat and prevent dry hair:

?If you absolutely must use a blow dryer, use it on a low and cool setting. Also, stop before your hair is completely dry (and do not start until your hair has had a little chance to air dry).

?Do not wash your hair every day. Let your scalp?s natural oils help treat your hair.

?Use a shampoo that contains humectants (like panthenol or glycerin) which will encourage water to bind to your hair to reduce dryness.

?Use acidifiers ? they lock in moisture at the cuticle (at the ?root? of the problem, so to speak).

?Leave the conditioner in your hair for up to five minutes.

?In addition to your regular routine, do a deep-conditioning treatment once a week.

?When out in the elements (especially the drying sun) where a hat.

?Where a swim camp when swimming ? you can even put a conditioner on your hair before you put your swim cap on (watch out, though ? the cap might slide off if you use too much!)

?Avoid coloring, straightening, or perming your hair.

?Change your diet! Eat plenty of essential fatty acids (but avoid cholesterol).

?Apply a few drops of safflower oil to your hands, rub them together, and then work some of it into the ends ? it does not take a lot!

?You could also take a teaspoon or so of safflower oil orally daily.

?Realize that when your hair is wet, it is more susceptible to breakage ? it stretches. Do not brush your wet hair.

If your dry hair or oily hair persists, even after trying these suggestions, condsider speaking with a hair dresser or dermatologist.

How to Stay Healthy and Fit

7:55 PM

If you?re a smoking teenager, chances are very big to get a heart disease or stroke when you?ll be older. So in that case, I would suggest you try to avoid any kind of cigarettes, to practice sport, to say no to alcohol or any kind of drugs and to always have safe sex. It is also strongly recommended to pay the doctor a visit more often for different tests, such as measuring your blood pressure and checking your general health.

What you eat is also very important for your health. An obese person is at risk for many diseases. The BMI (body mass index) is being used to measure the proportions between weight and height. A person considered to be overweight has a body mass index above 95%, but for example, an athlete can also have a high BMI without being overweight. The explanation could be that the body has extra muscle tissue, but no fat at all. The body begins to gain weight when it?s overfed, that means when it receives more calories than it needs, or than it burns off. Obesity means stress for the body, health and mind. Obese people feel depressed and there is more likely for them to eat to cure this depression than to run or swim. So, the key in avoiding obesity is to have an organized life program, respect your body, to exercise everyday, to try to eat healthy and to avoid tobacco, alcohol or drugs.

It?s very important to teach yourself to eat only what?s good for your health, because, after all, you?re eating to stay alive, not staying alive just for the taste of food. Even though you?re not a sporty person, you should try to find an activity that you enjoy to mix it somehow with a bit of sport. For example, if you feel to relax yourself, take the bike and go to your favorite place: a lake, a forest, a park instead of watching TV and being tempted of eating in front of it. Spend more time outside, in the nature rather than staying at the computer, playing some game that instead of relaxing you, will make you more tired. Read more about ways of staying healthy, it will improve your knowledge and most importantly: a healthy body needs a healthy mind!

Hair Loss and Hair Growth Myths Part 1

1:10 PM

Hair loss occupies all of us. If we are not experiencing hair loss, we have a close friend or relative who does. In fact, dozens of millions suffer from hair loss. It is only natural that so many hair loss myths will arise. We have gathered all the major hair loss and hair growth myths. Read them carefully before choosing a hair loss treatment.

1. The myth ? People who have fast growing hair will not suffer from hair loss.

The truth ? Fast growing hair indicates on a good nutrition but has no connection with hair loss.

2. The myth - Hanging up side down or standing on your head increases the blood pressure in the head and helps with preventing hair loss, stopping it and regrowing hair.

The truth ? hanging up side down will only make you look ridiculous. We suggest you try other hair loss treatments.

3. The myth - You may have male pattern baldness only if your mother side of the family has a history of balding.

The truth - It has been proven that male and female hair loss can be inherited by both sides of the family.

4. The myth ? hair cuts make the hair grow faster

How To Treat Common Baldness

12:19 PM

The term common baldness usually means male-pattern baldness. Male-pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men. Men who have this type of hair loss usually have inherited the trait. Men who start losing their hair at an early age tend to develop more extensive baldness.

In male-pattern baldness, hair loss typically results in a receding hairline and baldness on the top of the head. Women may develop female-pattern baldness. In this form, the hair becomes thin over the entire scalp.

One person that can help you is perhaps your doctor. It could be related to your diet, any medicines you're taking, whether you've had a recent illness and how you take care of your hair. For a woman, it may be related to your menstrual cycle, pregnancies and menopause.

The doctor may want to do a physical exam to look for other causes of hair loss. Finally, blood tests or a biopsy (taking a small sample of cells to examine under a microscope) of your scalp may be needed.

Depending on your type of hair loss, treatments are available. If a medicine is causing your hair loss, your doctor may be able to prescribe a different medicine. Recognizing and treating an infection may help stop the hair loss. Correcting a hormone imbalance may prevent further hair loss.

Medicines may help in slowing down or preventing the development of common baldness. One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. It is applied to the scalp. Both men and women can use it. Another medicine, finasteride (brand name: Propecia) is available with a prescription. It comes in pills and is only for men. It may take up to 6 months before you can tell if one of these medicines is working.

If adequate treatment is not available for your type of hair loss, you may consider trying different hairstyles or wigs, hairpieces, hair weaves or artificial hair replacement.

Hair Loss Solutions from a Pill

10:26 AM

Most people believe the only way to cure their hair loss problem is from the outside, by using a chemical treatment, shampoo or other topical treatment. These ways can work for you, but in recent medical studies the main cause of hair loss, at least 95% of the time, is either genetic and or hormonal. A hormonal by product, DHT, affects the hair follicles, making them thinner and shrink until nothing is left. Research found that balding men had increased levels of DHT in these areas.

How to solve the problem of increased DHT.

Simply, block it. Specific vitamins, minerals and herbs can block the DHT in your body. By taking these supplements orally, they block the DHT through the blood stream. The hair follicles beneath your scalp get all the nutrients they need to promote new healthy hair growth.

Supplements:

Biotin, part of the Vit B complex, helps with the skin condition of your scalp.

Other B vitamins, like B6, are essential for good health and hair growth.

Everyone knows Zinc helps your immume system, but it also is needed for cell division for the tissue of the hair, nails and skin.

Nettle Root blocks the 2 enzymes that produce DHT, now known to be the leading cause of hair loss.

Saw Palmetto also blocks one of the enzymes, 5 alpha-reductase, that produces DHT.

Gota Kola supports the integrity of hair growth, collagen and skin.

The oil extracted from pumpkin skins is also a natural hair loss remedy.

You can get all of the above and more in a caplet you only have to take twice per day? Yes, there is a hair loss solution from a pill! You can cure your hair loss problem from the inside out. Go to my web site to find out how.

Accutane Side Effects Lawyer: Hair Loss Depression Suicide

4:43 PM

You probably know the drug isotretinoin by its trade name, accutane. Accutane is a powerful drug often used to treat acne. Unlike other acne treatments, which are simply antibacterial agents, accutane actually changes the composition of the skin. Accutane causes skin to produce less oil, which almost always results in a reduction of acne. Accutane is very powerful and effective, but this comes with some very dangerous side effects that everybody should be aware of. If used or administered improperly, accutane can do more harm than good.

Almost everybody who uses accutane suffers from mild side effects like itchy skin, chapped lips, hair loss, and nosebleeds. These are very minor compared with some of the more dramatic side effects. Accutane causes horrible birth defects if used while a mother is pregnant, and women taking accutane have to sign a contract that they are willing to undertake an abortion if they become pregnant during or directly after their use of accutane. Other problems include decreased night vision, joint pain, and disorders of the intestinal and urinary systems.

Some patients develop terrible headaches that can lead to brain aneurisms. Some patients taking accutane fall into severe depression and many have committed suicide. The actual numbers are hard to come by because the majority of accutane users are young adolescents, an age group that is always plagued by raging hormones and emotional swings. When these young people take their lives while using accutane their families do not always realize that the depression, and resulting death, was actually caused by the drug. Some people feel that drug companies should be held responsible for distributing a drug with side effects as life-threatening as the disease of depression.

If you or someone you love is using accutane and is suffering from any of these terrible side effects, please talk to a trained drug lawyer. Victims across the country are filing suit with Roche Pharmaceuticals, the makers of accutane, to gain justice for the terrible side effects accutane has unleashed. Accutane can produce pleasing aesthetic results, but at a potentially devastating cost in health risks.

To find out why you need an Accutane lawyer and read articles about dangerous drugs and Accutane side effects, visit our website at hugesettlements.com.

If you have any questions or concerns about filing an Accutane lawsuit, please contact a professional Accutane attorney right away!

Female Hair Loss and Menopause

10:15 PM

Menopause is one of the most common causes of female hair loss and one of the least happily endured symptom. Female hair loss can be pretty devastating to any woman in today?s modern society, which emphasizes the importance of an attractive hairdo. Just think on the thriving multi-billion dollar in the hair care industry and the numerous advertisements on shampoo, styling products and hair loss treatments.

Like childbirth, menopause is a natural occurring state for women and ? also like childbirth ? the changes manifested in the body can be traumatic. Women begin menopause between the ages of 30 and 70, with most beginning between the mid 40s and mid 50s. However, menopause can occur unnaturally, that is, after surgery or medical treatment. In this case, the symptoms may be much more severe and female hair loss is much more likely.

Female hair loss is not a guaranteed symptom of menopause. It is less common than, for example, hot flashes and mood changes. Women experience female hair loss to varying degrees and some don't experience at all.

Exactly what causes hair loss is still not clear. But many experts have said that the most common cause is androgenetic alopecia or genetic balding. This refers to a genetic process whereby individual hair follicles metabolizes the sex hormone testosterone. Menopausal women experiencing hair loss experience a higher rate of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. It is the effect of DHT on hair follicles that results in heair loss.

In the same respect, women who have abnormally high levels of male sex hormones can also experience thinning of scalp hair. Signs that these women display include plenty of body and facial hair, abnormal menstrual patterns and enlarged clitoris.

In addition, factors like anemia, thyroid disorders, fungal infections and stressful life situations can cause hair loss in menopausal women.

In the same way that female hair loss shows itself as a manifestation about three months after the originating cause begins, so too does female hair loss take about three months to show the effects of treatment. Estrogenic treatments like soy isoflavones or hormone replace therapies, will need to be implemented for about three months before you can determine whether or not it's working for you.

How negative a menopausal woman feels towards her hair loss differs from individual to individual. In situations where it affects her quality of life and self esteem, it is best to address the problem quickly. A proper evaluation by a professional for causes of hair loss is necessary to determine the underlying medical conditions and an appropriate course of treatment that produce the condition.

Fashion Wigs Change Your Image in Seconds!

2:14 PM

Do you want to be a blonde one day and a redhead the next? One way to do this is to dye your own hair and restyle it, but you can achieve the same effect with much less effort - just buy a wig. To select a wig that would be indistinguishable from real human hair and become your favorite fashion accessory, though, you need to know a few insider tips.

First of all, if you?re worried that a wig will not look natural on your head, never fear! A properly made wig - even the quality synthetic varieties - can look totally realistic.

Which is best - synthetic or human hair wigs?

Wigs can be synthetic or made from real human hair. Synthetic wigs are cheaper, but the very cheap ones you can find online don?t look real enough. On the other hand, high quality synthetic wigs like Revlon, Raquel Welch or Paula Young wigs look very real. Also, synthetic wigs are easier to care for, as you don?t need to restyle them every time you wash them.

Real human hair is in limited supply, so human hair wigs are much more expensive; typically they several hundred dollars. Human hair wigs look and feel very natural. However, it is important to know that the quality of your wig depends on the origin of the hair used. The cheapest hair comes from Asian countries, but their texture is different from the hair of European women. The best human hair wigs are made from European hair but, unfortunately, they cost a small fortune.

What wigs styles are available?

You can get ? wigs as well as full wigs. A full wig covers your entire head, so none of your own hair is visible. This type of wig is great when you want to try a color different from your own.

A ? wig is clipped to the top of your head. Because your original hairline is visible, the wig looks very natural. Also, your head doesn?t get ?toasted? under a wig cap. On the downside, though, three quarter wigs have to match your hair color very closely, otherwise it won?t look convincing. It is best not to buy this type of wig online because the colors on the color charts are usually not very accurate.

A very interesting style of wig is the headband wig. A headband wig is a full wig with a headband attached to its front. It is especially useful if you are always in a hurry, because the headband ensures that none of your own hair is visible. This style is recommended if your natural hair is a dramatically different color from the wig.

Wigs come in all shapes and styles - from very short to 30 inches long, in straight, curly, wavy, braided, layered, spiky or ?the wet look?. It is important that you look at many styles before you decide which one your heart desires.

It is a good idea to have your wigs customized, too. If you can find a hair salon that can trim your wig to make it fit your face shape, go for it. Customizing a wig isn?t cheap, of course, but it will make your new wig look more realistic and suitable for your face.

If you feel like a change, get yourself a wig. It is amazing, how much having a different hairstyle can transform a person. And for a woman it is always important to vary her image and look fresh.

Winter Hair Care Tips for Long Hair

7:06 PM

The winter months literally assault hair in the worst way, if you do not prepare it for the most rigorous season of the year. While the first snow falls outside your home, the first dandruff signals may appear over your shoulders. Such flaking occurs due to excessive cell production but it can be prevented by using a good dandruff shampoo on a regular basis.

This time of the year is when long hairstyles are not only recommended and desirable as they are the perfect complement for the many festivities occurring during the winter season, including Christmas and New Year. As the winter is approaching, natural hair care needs to be adjusted to keep it from damage, which is caused by the elements of the weather.

Winter can ruin your personal appearance when it comes to choosing an incredible and stylish hairdo and dry flaking scales of skin start snowing of your head as a result of dandruff, causing persistent scaling or itching of the scalp. Apply dandruff shampoo to your hair when you are not suffering from dandruff is also a good preventative measure.

The strong winds of the season are a danger that no type of hair care can resolve without the aid of hair conditioners that help to moisture the dryness of your hair. Some women prefer to wear hats, scarves or even wigs to protect their hair. That practice is not accurate, since hair can snag and break. Besides, long wig hairstyles are anti-natural.

Unless your hair is severely damaged, avoid wigs and do not use hats without protecting your hair with a silk scarf. No matter how cold the winter weather, keep your hair care routine, and use a dandruff shampoo to control dandruff or prevent it. Browse through magazines or pictures online to find modern or classic long hairstyles prior to winter to find the perfect hairstyle and then let your hair grow long enough to accommodate the style that you have chosen.

If winter weather is too rigorous in your city with cold harsh air, you may damage your hair if you do not prepare ahead of time with the proper hair care. Humidifiers are useful during this season because they add moisture to your environment hydrating your home's air, but if you do not wish to use one, simply set a pot of water on your stove, and let the water steam into the air, which will prevent dandruff as well.

As for your long hair care, air dry it whenever possible, concentrate the conditioner on its ends, wash it under the shower and leave it hanging down. As part of your hair care, make sure to use a dandruff shampoo and do a final rinse in cold water disregard the cold winter temperatures, keep a super absorbent hair drying towel close by, and remember, never brush your hair when it is wet which can cause the hair to break.

Curls for Girls How to Scrunch Your Hair

12:47 PM

This is a simple, and great to know, blow drying technique for bringing out the natural curl in both long and short hair. Anyone, with the possible exception of those with fine, very straight hair, can get an amazing amount of volume and curl if you will try this. You do not have to wash your hair, just make sure it is wet, and add a little gel or mousse to it if you would like. In fact, unless your hair is very fine and prone to being weighed down by hair products, leaving it just a little dirty will actually add volume to your curls! You also might want a place to sit while you do this.

Step 1: Holding your hair dryer in one hand, bend at the waist, and flip your hair upside down, so the ends are all hanging towards the ground. With your free hand, grab a handful of the ends of your hair and bring your hand up towards your head, gathering up hair as you go. You should have a big handful of hair. Hold it loosely in your hand, and aim the warm air all around your hand for 15 seconds or so. Release that hair, and repeat with another section of hair. Move all around your head! You should be able to get all of the way around your head with about 5 handfuls.

Step 2: When you have had a go at all of your hair, take a few seconds and aim the dryer at your scalp. Rub your free hand in small circles all over your head while aiming the dryer at your scalp. This will create volume in your hairstyle, and even when you wear it straight it is a good technique to use. No one looks good with hair flat to their scalp.

Keep repeating these steps until your hair is mostly dry. The tighter you squeeze your hair as you dry it, the more curl you will get, and the longer it will take to dry. This can take from 5-20 minutes, depending on how long and thick your hair is. When your hair is nearly dry, add a little hairspray at your scalp, and through the rest of your hair, and do one more quick round with the hairdryer. I would love to see what you all can do with this?please send your before and after pictures to me!

Tips: Try having some layers cut into your hair if you don?t have them, to maximize your ?curl power!? Also, the more frequently you scrunch your hair, the easier it is. Embrace your curls!

Hair Restoration: What to Expect

5:48 PM

Like every field of surgery, the treatment of hair loss is a constantly evolving field. Today?s surgeons offer new developments, new findings in research, new medications, and a long resume of experience. There are many reasons that a patient may consult with a hair loss surgeon for a hair restoration procedure. Nevertheless, almost all patients have the same expectations: they wish to look the way they did prior to their hair loss.

Cosmetic surgery, although it?s been highlighted as glamorous and trendy, is anything but a stroll in the park. These procedures are long, often painful, and very costly. Many patients are under the impression that they?ll walk in the door bald and walk out with a thick head of hair the same day. Unfortunately, that?s not the case. Hair transplants can take several weeks, sometimes months. It?s a slow process with a lot of healing between appointments.

Why would someone undergo a cosmetic procedure? There are several reasons. Some patients aren?t satisfied with their own current ?look.? Some patients aren?t satisfied with the opinions others may have about their current ?look.? Whatever the reasons are for such a procedure, patients should research several surgeons before selecting a surgeon. Never take blind referrals. The advice from a colleague or friend is great, as long as they have had such a procedure completed by the same surgeon.

Patients need to be realistic when it comes to their expected results. What can and can not be done largely depends on your age and current medical condition. Most people desire to ?look younger.? That?s a very natural response! We all want to find the fountain of youth. But ask yourself honestly: will hair restoration actually make you look younger? If you?re, let?s say, a sixty year old woman who has fine wrinkles around your mouth and forehead, puffy eyes, and rough skin from years of sun?will you be content with hair restoration. Are you trying to change your hair or your overall appearance?

Unfortunately, cosmetic surgery can often lead a patient to pursue a chain of surgeries. What may start as one procedure, can branch into several completely unrelated procedures. The patient is temporarily pleased with their ?new look? until they find another ?flaw? to correct. As we stated earlier?expect realistic results. It?s important that you create a bond of trust with your surgeon. They most certainly will keep anything you say confidential.

Your frankness and honesty are essential. List all medical treatments, hospitalizations, and allergies that you have or have had in the past. Something that happened in 1992 may not seem relevant to you, but it may be of importance to your doctor.

Natural Hair Loss Product Proven in Clinical Trials

2:34 PM

A drug-free hair loss product, from a surprising source, may be the new answer to thinning hair, alopecia, and male pattern baldness.

You have no idea what it's like, says Joe Rice, a 60-year-old professional from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I started losing my hair in my twenties. It's miserable. It has a way of shaping your whole life.

Joe's worn a toupee for years. No one sees him without it, not even his closest friends. He's tried just about everything to stop hair loss, including Rogaine and Propecia, without success. But deep down, he still holds out hope.

I know the drugs work for some people, but they didn't work for me, he sighs. Just show me one new hair, and I'm a customer for life.

A Serious Problem

Joe is not alone. Millions of men and women suffer in silence from alopecia, baldness and thinning hair. And while hair loss isn't fatal, it is a serious condition with profound psychological effects. For many, hair loss brings feelings of shame, despair, and crippled self-esteem.

New Hope from the Orient

Since 1999, a group of scientists in Japan, led by researcher T. Takahashi, has been studying botanical extracts looking for a safe, effective solution for hair growth. After testing over a thousand different extracts, they found three promising natural chemicals. One was from barley. One from Chardonnay grapes. And one- by far the most potent- was an extract from ordinary apples.

Move Over Minoxidil

One year later, the scientists announced even more striking findings to the international community. They compared the apple extract, known as procyanidin B-2, to the proven hair growth drug minoxidil in cell cultures.

Their results seemed almost impossible: in head-to-head tests, the apple chemical proved to be twice as effective as minoxidil in stimulating new hair growth.

In further experiments on mice, the apple procyanidins, as well as minoxidil, repeatedly produced extensive hair growth.

Proven in Double-Blind Clinical Trials

In clinical trials on humans, the results were even more exciting. The procyanidins from apples consistently grew new hair in men with male pattern baldness, the most stubborn form of unwanted hair loss- and without any of the side effects of hair loss drugs.

Scientists are normally conservative when it comes to conclusions. But the statements from the Takahashi group were unequivocal. Procyanidin B-2 therapy, they wrote, shows potential as a promising cure for male pattern baldness.

For Joe, and 60 million other men and women, this research means new hope. Of course I'll try it, he says. Just show me one new hair...

Taming The Frizz

2:40 PM

My daughter hates her hair. Several of my friends hate their hair, too. Why? Because it tends to frizz!

We're not talking afro style frizz here or even anything remotely close, but when your hair's supposed to be sleek and smooth, even the tiniest amount of frizz can be frustrating.

While I'm not going to suggest I can cure your problems, having had my share of the frizzes I've picked up a good few tips through the years and hopefully, by following them, you'll soon be experiencing frizz-free days, too.

* DO NOT wash you hair daily

Although you may feel that your hair will be dirty if you don't wash it every morning while you shower, others are very unlikely to notice. Only greasy hair will show signs of being unwashed after one day and frizzy hair is rarely greasy. On the contrary, the fact that you're stripping away your hair's natural oils is the most likely cause of your frizz problem. Leave your hair for 3-4 days between washes.

* DO use conditioner

Try to find a moisturising conditioner and use it after every wash. It's really worth paying a little extra for a good quality conditioner and if you can't afford both a good shampoo and a good conditioner, put the extra money into the conditioner.

* DO give your hair an intensive hot oil treatment

About once every third wash (if you're sticking to the 3-4 day washing guide), use a leave-in intensive conditioner on your hair. This will help replace any natural oils that your hair has lost due to the abrasive cleaners in shampoo and your hair being exposed to the elements (sun, wind etc).

* DO NOT use chemicals on your hair

Those who are unhappy with their hair have a tendency to colour it and use all sorts of other chemicals in a vain hope of somehow making it look better. The truth is, these chemicals are just adding to your problem. If your hair has a tendency to frizz, keep away from unnecessary chemical products.

* DO NOT expose your hair to the elements

Sun and wind will both dry your hair causing excessive frizzing. Try to wear a scarf or hat to cover your hair whenever you're in the sun and especially if you know you're going to be spending a lot of time outdoors. A scarf will also protect against wind damage. You might also consider buying hair products that protect against UV rays (they have a SPF - Sun Protection Factor).

* DO have your hair cut regularly

Those with frizzy hair will probably be happier with a short style but whatever you choose, it's important you visit your hairdresser regularly as split ends will only add to the problem.

* DO try to keep your hair dry

Damp air leads to frizz. Unfortunately, we can't always ensure that our hair will stay dry but if you think it might rain, carry an umbrella. There are some really funky looking brollies around these days so they won't cramp your style.

* DO NOT use heated styling tools

Hair dryers, straightening irons and curling tongs all damage the hair and should be avoided as much as possible. If you MUST use them, always use a protective product on your hair beforehand. If you're uncertain of the kind of product you'd need, ask your hairdresser for advice.

* DO use anti-frizz products

Products such as frizz-ease aren't just another way of getting you to part with your money. Although they'll never completely eliminate the problem, they really do help decrease it. However, it's important that you stick with the other tips, too. Using anti-frizz products alone simply isn't enough.

Although I can't promise your frizz problems will disappear, these tips should at least help you eliminate the worst of the problem.

Just remember that whatever nature's given you, it's a lot better than if you'd not been given anything at all.

Have a happy hair day!

Facial Hair Removal Removing Unwanted Hair by Threading

1:09 AM

1. What is Threading?

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal still used in many countries in the Middle East as well as India and Pakistan. Called khite in Arabic and fatlah in Egyptian, it's a less common method in the West for removing hair at the root. Traditionally, threading is used on the entire face, including upper lip, chin, eyebrows, sideburns and cheeks. Hair Threading can be done either at home or at many salons. Threading is a great solution for removing fine hair like the hair that grows above the lip. It's more effective than shaving, or bleaching, but it can be as painful as waxing depending upon how sensitive your skin is and how thick your hair grows.

The procedure is called Threading because you use normal sewing thread to remove the hair below the root. Honestly, it's quicker and easier to have it done at the salon but if you're into home remedies, here's what you need to know.

2. How does Threading work?

In general, cotton thread is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin entwining the hair in the thread which is then lifted out from the follicle.

Start with about 2 feet of strong sewing thread. Take one end of the thread in each hand and knot them together so you end up with a continuous circle. Holding the thread with both hands, wind the thread 10 times until it resembles a bow tie. The wound portion should be in the middle. Next, slide the wound portion towards one of your hands by spreading the fingers of the other hand while closing the fingers of the other. Practice moving the wound area back and forth by alternating the fingers that you spread and close. Once you reach the point that you can easily maneuver the wound area back and forth, you are ready to proceed.

Because you have more area to work with, practice the procedure on leg hairs until you get the hang of it. Sit down on a chair and prop one leg up so it's at a comfortable height. Select the hair that you want to target. Place the wound side of the thread on one side of the hair and then lay the thread from the opposite end around both sides of the hair. Now, do the finger stretching and closing routine to quickly move the wound area to the other side of the thread. This will capture the hair and pull it from the root. Repeat the process until you have treated the entire area.

3. General Tips and Information

It sounds confusing. That's why it's recommended that you have it done at the salon the first time. Pay attention to how it's all done, and then try it at home. Threading is relatively inexpensive. Just think of paying to have it done as tuition because once you learn, you can continue to do it at home. Depending upon how quickly your hair grows back, you may only have to thread once per month. There are no real dangerous side effects to threading although, if you are especially sensitive to pain, you might find the process uncomfortable. The up side is once you learn how to perform the threading procedure, you can do it quickly and as frequently as you need to.

Threading is inexpensive, fast and neat. It's considered less painful than plucking and it's Good for eyebrows and facial hair. Like plucking, results can last up to four weeks.

Goatee Grooming: The Art of Growing A Goatee

2:11 AM

Goatee Shaping

I use an electrical shaver and find it works quite well to shape my goatee. I simply shave around my goatee when shaving my face each morning.

Using a manual razor can also work very well since it allows to quickly and cleanly shape your goatee. A manual razor is also good for hard to reach areas such as the areas beside each side of your nose.

A new manual razor I've seen advertised has a special trimming blade that looks like it could be very helpful for goatee shaping since it would enable you to shape your goatee cleanly and quickly.

If you can find a clear gel or shaving oil, it's probably better to use than a regular shaving foam cream. Once you've covered your skin with the foam, it's hard to see what you're shaving to ensure your goatee is symmetrical!

Goatee Trimming

My suggestion is to buy an electric trimmer for goatee trimming. I bought a $20 cordless goatee trimmer two years ago after spending way too much time trimming my goatee with scissors.

Using a goatee trimmer like the one I have ensures that your goatee is symmetrical and neat.

Also, the built in length selector enables me to select the length of the hair rather than guessing with a pair of scissors. My trimmer gives me three different length choices.

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that to avoid having to spend a lot of time and effort on goatee grooming, getting an electric trimmer is probably your best bet.

Remember to wash your goatee when you're washing your face, too.

Depending on how thick and how bushy your facial hair grows, goatees can take different shapes and forms. Your genes and your personal preference will largely determine how your goatee looks.

Hair Transplant Straight Forward And Affordable But Still Cosmetic Surgery

2:42 AM

Hair loss affects an estimated fifty million men and thirty million women in the United States alone. The cause is an excess of Dihydro-testosterone (DHT hormone) in certain areas of the scalp, mostly due to hereditary conditions.

Hair transplant is the only everlasting solution to all types of hair loss.

About 95 percent of all cases of hair loss are the result of androgenetic alopecia, also known as male pattern baldness in men.

By the time we are forty years old, forty percent of women and nearly forty percent of men have visible symptoms of hereditary hair loss.

By age fifty, fifty percent of both genders show signs of androgenetic alopecia. Hereditary hair loss can be inherited from the mother, the father, and even from both parents in combination.

Race neither increases nor decreases a person's likelihood of experiencing hereditary hair loss. Hereditary hair loss affects all ethnicities.

In recent years researchers are finding that environmental issues may also be causing both men and women to lose hair at an earlier age.

Hair transplantation is the best known method of hair restoration and also the method of hair restoration most often used to treat hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia.

The cosmetic surgery procedure of hair transplantation begins by removing a strip of hair follicles from the donor area, which is the horseshoe shaped fringe of hair on the lower back and sides of the head, the strip of healthy hair is then dissected into hundreds and even thousands of follicular units. These units, which contain from one to four hairs each, are then transplanted into the thinning or balding areas.

The hair taken from the donor area will continue to grow and not fall out as a result of pattern baldness because this hair is not sensitive to the male hormone DHT.

It is important to note, that the hairless part of the head is not the reason of your hair loss; it is the genetic makeup of the hair. Healthy follicular units from the back of the head will continue growing as they always have independently of where they have been relocated.

When hair transplantation surgery was first introduced in the 1950's, it was a complicated and costly cosmetic surgery procedure that often resulted in unnatural results.

Through extensive research and state-of-the-art developments in technique and instrumentation, hair transplantation has become a highly sophisticated yet relatively simple procedure. Major advancements in technique nowadays offer results that are remarkably natural in appearance and relatively affordable to most of us.

The average cost of hair transplantation surgery is between three and ten dollars per graft and the number of grafts needed depends on the extent of the balding area. The number of grafts needed varies greatly from case to case but we can say that it is commonly between five hundred and two thousands, therefore the average hair transplant cost ranges from $1500 to $20,000.

The surgeon's reputation for skill and experience is definitely a factor which may greatly influence the price as also is the geographical location.

Traveling to countries like Mexico, India or Greece, combining your hair transplant with some vacation time is a growing trend. The cost of the procedure may be drastically lower due to currency exchange and a little vacation time will allow you to completely recover rendering the change in appearance less obvious at your return home.

Most hair restoration clinics perform exceptionally well but you should always do your diligence, research your options, and if it is possible try to choose a hair restoration clinic which is patient focused rather than a commercially focused. Some clinics emphasize revenue, speed and volume rather than dedicating the time and individual care needed to produce optimal results.

I conclusion, hair transplant procedures have become simple and affordable but any type of cosmetic surgery is always surgery, which means that it is a serious matter, therefore never put yourself blindly in the hands of a surgeon without having first checked his references and rate of patients satisfaction.

Hair Removal: Which Method Is Best?

12:51 AM

If you're bothered by unsightly hair, you'll find many hair removal methods available. Your task is to select the right one.

Before making a decision, you'll need to (a) research the treatment options available, and (b) answer a few questions about yourself.

Which Area Do You Want To Treat?

The area of the body you want hair-free will determine the method of hair removal you select. Is the unwanted hair on your face or elsewhere? You'll need to narrow it down even more. Do you want hair removed from your arms, legs, eyebrows, back, chest, pubic area, knuckles or where?

When you're clear about which precise area of the body you want to focus on, next you'll need to determine whether your hair problem is hereditary. Some people are simply more prone to growing darker, coarser hair. If that's in your genetic makeup, no amount of treatment is going to completely solve your situation. You will have to settle for improvement rather than cure.

How Much Can You Afford To Spend?

The next step is to determine your budget. It's important to be clear on the available money, because that will eliminate some methods. Also, be aware that most methods will require multiple treatments at various intervals. Costs for hair removal treatments can range from a few dollars a month to several thousand dollars per treatment. On average 5 or more treatments are required to do the job. Your goal is to face up to whether you can afford it, and, if so, whether it will be the best use of your money.

How Much Pain Can You Tolerate?

The next cut on which method to choose is to assess your level of pain tolerance. Seriously. Your selection of hair removal methods will depend in part on how much pain you can handle. A number of hair removal methods are uncomfortable to painful. Although the pain is temporary, only you can judge your ability to tolerate it. Waxing and electrolysis are considered the most painful, so if you can't tolerate pain, these methods will not do.

Hair Removal: Temporary Or Permanent?

You still have 1 more decision to make: do you want a permanent or a temporary hair removal method? Be aware that most methods are, unfortunately, temporary.

To permanently stop hair growth you must damage the hair germination structure within the hair follicle. To date, electrolysis is the only method that has been proven to achieve this goal. Laser therapy comes close, but more experimentation is needed for conclusive proof.

These 2 semi-permanent methods are the most expensive of all the options, so your budget may make this decision for you. A temporary method may be your only option.

Last, but certainly not least, it's very important that you make sure you're undergoing the hair removal process because you want to. It's not wise to let somebody else pressure you into this.

Menopause and Hair Loss

9:36 PM

The onset of menopause can often lead to hair loss and has long been a part of aging that many women fear the most. These days many more women are also experiencing thinning and bald spots as they mature, and both men and women are reaching out for new solutions. Even though there is no real ?cure', there are many things that can be done to help.

Both hormones and genes are to blame for menopause causing acute hair loss, as is the aging process. Confirming the causes of your loss with a competent and experienced dermatologist is the first step in determining your best treatment options.

It?s possible to have temporary loss of hair caused by physical stress, emotional stress, thyroid abnormalities, medications and hormonal changes (such as androgens and estrogens during menopause) normally associated with females. Tension on the hair by prolonged use of hair weaving or corn rows can also cause permanent loss.

There are autoimmune disorders such as Alopecia Areata that cause patchy loss of hair often in small circular areas in different areas of the scalp. Alopecia Totalis is a total loss of hair on the scalp and is considered an advanced form of Areata. Alopecia Universalis is total hair loss of the entire body. People with diseases such as diabetes and lupus have also reported losing hair as a result.

It?s normal to shed some hair each day as about 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time during a normal phase that lasts for 2 to 6 years at one time. Some women notice they are losing hair about 3 months after delivering a child. This is related to a hormone loss and is usually temporary.

Several medicines have been known to cause hair loss such as blood thinners (anticoagulants), medicines used for gout and in chemotherapy to treat cancer. Also, the use of vitamin A, birth control pills and antidepressants has been known to cause hair loss.

Male pattern baldness is usually inherited from your genes. An over abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is an active form of testosterone, within the hair follicle can create this type of hair loss. Current medications are aimed at slowing this common type of baldness including Minoxidil which is commonly called Rogaine and is available without a prescription. Both men and women can apply this product to the scalp. Another medicine, Finasteride, and called Propecia is available in pill form without prescription but is meant only for men. It can take up to 6 months in order to tell if these medications are helping.

Remember, the onset of menopause can often lead to hair loss and has long been a part of aging that many women and men fear the most. Even though there is no real cute, there are many things that can be done to help. Select the Hair Loss Doc Shop to locate a doctor near you.

Very little have their hair lying as straight and as smooth as Jen's natural hair.

Jennifers Hairstyles Tips - Start off by conditioning your hair with a conditioning shampoo. Dry it well with a towel flat and put in a keep in hair conditioner. This will assist in straightening your hair and make it extremely soft and flexible. Carry on with a blend of identical amounts of shaping gel and calming serum, and run it gently through your hair. Dry your hair with a hairdryer using a big round hair-brush, being certain that you direct the tip of the dryer down parallel to your hair. Doing the opposite will only cause the hair cuticle to become rough, creating unnecessary frizz. As soon as your hair is dry and as flat as possible, break out the sedu flat iron. And follow the sedu flat iron instructions.

Youch! Hair Removal Trends Types And Costs

6:14 PM

Unwanted hair removal is on the rise big-time. Studies indicate that about eighty percent of women and a surprising fifty percent of men have unwanted hair that they'd like to get rid of. Hair removal has been around for thousands of years and in each culture you'll find varying socially acceptable amounts and areas of body hair.

People desiring hair removal all want 3 things:

1. To get rid of their unwanted hair with less pain.
2. Remove the hair without spending an arm and a leg, pun intended, (:--).
3. Diminish hair regrowth.

Now there are several processes for hair removal and each comes with its advantages, side effects and associated costs as well.

For decades, electrolysis and shaving had been the normal practice for removing hair, with the downsides being very painful and time consuming. Recently, modern techniques such as laser hair removal have given the world a better way to remove unwanted hair.

Here are the methods available for hair removal:

Temporary: Tweezing, Shaving, Epilators (mechanical and electrical), Chemical Depilatories

Dwindling Amounts Of hair: Waxing and Sugaring (tends to reduce hair growth with time)

Permanent: Electrolysis (Hair Electrology), Laser Hair Removal

Depending on the specialist involved and the type of treatment you desire, the price fluctuates.

Here's a general costs guideline associated with the most popular types of hair removal:

1. Shaving: from $1-$25 for razors and supplies. Barbers or professional shaves are about $5-$30.

2. Waxing: now more popular than sugaring will run about $25-$75 for a home use kit and around $20-$200 for professional waxing in salons depending on how much of the body is to be done.

3. Laser: generally running several thousand dollars after repeated treatments and varied according to how much of the body is to be treated.

Overview and further information on the various types of hair removal: Shaving is and may always be the quickest and most painless form of short term or temporary hair removal.

Hair removal creams like Ultra Hair Removal, Emjoi Hair Removal System and Tend Skin are available in stores and can be ordered online. But be careful while buying the products on line and consult an expert to know which product is suitable for your skin type and location of hair removal. An excellent resource for looking into scams and products is a website called www.HairFacts.com.

Epilators are good if you have delicate skin. They are compact in size, portable and easy to use. Put bluntly an epilator pulls the hair out from the root and like any of the other methods has its advantages and disadvantages.

Waxing, although temporary is the other effective way for hair removal and can easily be done in the privacy of your own home. It does have many cautions though so if your not familiar with waxing make sure to consult with a dermatologist first. For best results with waxing let the hair grow out for 2-3 weeks.

General waxing tips and guidelines:

1. Wash skin to remove any lotion and natural skin oils.

2. Let your body dry completely.

3. Test over a small area first to ensure your skin doesn't have any adverse effects.

4. Do not over heat the wax or it may burn.

5. Pain reducing gels can be used to avoid the pain.

6. The wax should be applied in the direction of hair growth.

7. Pull the wax backward from the direction of hair growth rather than pulling upward or out.

8. Wipe the skin with a moist towel to remove excess wax.

9. Use a good sunscreen lotion to avoid exposure to direct sunlight after waxing.

Laser hair removal is another way to get rid of unwanted hair permanently. These lasers destroy the pigment of the hair follicle preventing it from regrowth. It can be used to remove hair from a small area of a person?s upper lip to full body back hair for men. Blisters or reddening of skin, dark spots and bumps on skin are to be expected after a laser removal treatment, but will heal quickly with almost no cause for concern. The major downside to laser is the associated costs. Repeated visits will be needed for complete coverage. Consult a laser hair removal salon in your area for further details.

For further information to hair removal consult a dermatologist in your area or stop in and visit one of the hair removal salons, I'm sure they'll be glad to give you more information considering your a potential client.

New York Laser Hair Removal Cures a Werewolf

2:09 AM

Ok so you know someone, you are someone, or you?ve seen someone who sports excessive unwanted hair in the manner of an overgrown creature from a B-grade fright flick. It?s not only men that can suffer from excessive unwanted hair, but women as well. 30000 years before there were New York laser hair removal centers, Manhattan natives were most probably far hairier than they are now, but times change?.slowly. It was still as recently as 1977 that Saturday Night Fever showed us how sexy a hairy chested man could be, ?not that there?s anything wrong with that?.

Today we all still have body hair to varying degrees, but for an increasing number, it seems to be far more fashionable to have the sleek smooth hairless look. The caveman (I just came back from a big hunt and I?m sweating) look seems to be on the decline?

So maybe you live in Manhattan, you?re a successful professional with back hair and maybe you?re comfortable not being as smooth as a dolphin. On the other hand you might be the type who doesn?t want to take your shag carpet to the gym and unleash it on the beautiful fashionistas and you?re looking for the best New York laser hair removal options. Likewise, maybe you?re an aerobics instructor in a swank uptown gym and you?re tired of waxing or shaving to keep the Amazon rainforest in check and you want to find out more about laser hair removal New York style? Whatever you case is, here is a brief introduction to permanent hair removal by laser and how laser hair removal works.

In a nutshell laser hair removal works by using special types and frequencies of laser light to destroy hair follicles. The process works because the laser light targets melanin, which is the pigment in hair follicles. Laser light heats up the melanin destroying structures in the follicle without damaging surrounding tissue.

Various types of lasers are used in the process and may include the Nd:Yag CoolGlide laser and the GentleLase alexandrite laser.

Laser hair removal is generally regarded as a hair reduction technique and usually takes several treatments to get best results. This is because the hair follicles must be treated when they are in their growth phase. As hair grows in cycles, typically only 30% of hair cells will be growing at any time. Darker course hair tends to respond best, with blonde and red hair generally not responding as well to treatment.

Costs of using New York laser hair removal centers don?t tend to be any higher than any other cities in the U.S. Prices will depend on what area you are getting treated and more importantly the size of the area. Keep in mind that several laser treatments will probably be needed on most areas and thus the cost can multiply too.

Whether it?s on men or women: leg hair, back hair, chest, arm, and bikini or just about anywhere else, laser hair removal seems to be the way of the future.

There are plenty of New York laser hair removal clinics and many in Manhattan. The best bet is to hit the web for as much information as possible and start hunting to find a reputable center, and check their qualifications and history.

Here?s to being dolphin smooth!
